Hello @Tyree424 and welcome to the online community
Thank you for joining us and making your first post.
How is your grandson managing in general with his autism? If he has a specialist or doctor that he is in contact with regularly about his condition it might be worth getting in touch with them to see if they can support with this issue at all.
Does he give a reason why he rips his socks? I wonder if having something more durable to occupy his hands with might be helpful such as a stress ball or something like that. It could offer him an opportunity to focus on something else rather than his socks but still have an outlet. This is a very supportive and welcoming site to be a part of so I’m hopeful that you’ll find it to be a positive outlet. Feel free to have a look around and get involved wherever you’d like 😊 I have included below a few of the pages I’d recommend having a look through to get used to things:
- The virtual coffee lounge which is one of our categories, in which we play games and talk about general subjects such as hobbies and interests
- The recent discussions page, which shows an overview of everything happening across the community
- The categories page, which shows a full list of discussion groups on the community
If you have any questions at all then don’t hesitate to ask.

Hi Tyree424, I wonder if it’s anything to do with how the material feels on his skin? Just a thought of course. I hope you find a solution that works.Tyree424 said:My grandson is autistic and he rips his socks daily, what can I do to ease the his habit of partaking in that ?0
