It’s great to have a platform like this for disabled students, I’m just about to go into my second year, I only submitted all my student finance yesterday, meaning my parents part but it came back approved straight away, I put I’d like to apply for a special support grant, when I did my finance last year my PIP was being assessed/appealed, so I didn’t apply for it.
I’m hoping this is just a blooper as I know my parents won’t be able to support me, it says I can have £1000 grant and a £9000 pound something loan this was £2250(loan)I could get last year and I got the full grant as I’m from wales and my family mainly care for my elderly nans who both have mixed dementia, so are in the low income bracket. The only other difference is my mum got a back pay of carers allowance for me, which added an extra couple of grand to what she normally gets. I’m worrying it’s because I’ve put I could be eligible for a special support grant/loan and they’ve just done loan, but I don’t like accepting loans so I just used my grant last year and I’d have to pay my whole years grant out of that £1000, any thoughts or should I be patient and wait for my proper entitlement letter with everything on?

There's some information here on student finance for Wales. If you'll be living at home then the loan is usually less than it would be if living away from home. https://gov.wales/student-finance/full-time-undergraduates
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Hello @april123ii8
I can see this is your first post, welcome to the community
I can see you made this a while ago and I wanted to comment and check in to see how everything went? Did you receive an entitlement letter? Did it clear everything up for you?
Hope you're keeping well?Hannah - She / Her
