Dear all,

I hope you are well.

3 December 2022 marks International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPWD). IDPWD is a time for celebration, learning and action. It is a time to recognise and value the diversity of disabled people worldwide.

While disability is our day-to-day work at Scope, the Day is important across the world to help people understand the importance of disability inclusion and accessibility.

International Day of People with Disabilities roundtable

On 6 December 2022, from 4pm to 5pm, please join our next roundtable to mark International Day of People with Disabilities.

Join the roundtable on 6th December 2022 4pm to 5pm.

About the roundtable

The roundtable will focus on the experiences of people with less visible disabilities. Some impairments, conditions and access needs are not as visible as others. People with less visible impairments, conditions and access needs often experience unique negative attitudes and lack of understanding.

You may remember Scope’s campaign with ITV last year that focused on invisible disabilities.

The roundtable will cover:

  • the importance of International Day of People with Disabilities
  • experiences of people with less visible disabilities
  • inclusion and accessibility for colleagues, volunteers and customers with less visible disabilities
  • language around the binary of visible and invisible disability
  • question and answer session

Speakers

  • Pippa Stacey, disabled writer, speaker and communication consultant. Pippa talks about life with chronic illness, ‘everyday ableism’, and accessible employment.
  • Scope colleagues who have lived experience of less visible conditions, impairments and access needs.
  • Ruth Blazye, Scope’s Executive Director of Retail and Communities, will chair the event.

Add this event to your calendar so you dont miss out!.
