What’s your definition of ‘young’?They/them, Autistic, Vegan, Pan/Demi, Teacher, Antiracist, Artist

Thank you for the invite to become a member, however, unfortunately am unable to as I don't think I will remember all of the rules linked to it (ie attending the meetings regularly but can only attend online events anyway) and I don't want to let the group down. Just in case you notice I put in my details but then decided not to submit the form, that's why. Have a lovely safe day everyone 😀

Hi @Lisa82 I have been a member for a few months and all the events have been online and theres no expectations, they send a email newsletter and record the roundtables etc
so you can catch up definitely a nice thing to join up as a member if you enjoy scope online community etc and want to be more involved in their work and socialise to meet other members virtually I would recommend it 🙂My Pronouns are (She/Her & They/Them)

I can hear how people are past 25 but would still consider themselves young. It might be worth having this conversation with @Giovanni_Scope!
I am sure everyone has valuable contributions, though the target group are up to 25. If anyone has any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask awayCommunity Volunteer Adviser with professional knowledge of education, special educational needs and disabilities and EHCP's. Pronouns: She/her.
Please note: if I use the online community outside of its hours of administration, I am doing so in a personal capacity only. -
It seems like Psp27pe2 has already questioned Giovanni about this @L_Volunteer - &, by the reply they received, it seems everyone is welcome. I therefore feel it's erroneous to say the 'target group' are those up to 25, & wouldn't want you to put members off from joining the event.I would be interested in hearing one of the speakers in particular as they suffer from Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, whereas myself & family (shhh.....don't tell anyone, including 2 grandchildren in the 18-25 year age bracket) have the hypermobile type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, so, a very similar disorder.P.S. @Giovanni_Scope - one of the speakers has the more correctly spelt 'facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy.'

@Giovanni_Scope Hi. I hope you are well and keeping warm 😃. Just to clarify, are people allowed to join your 'being young and disabled members group', I'm not a member of it but am just curious to know because of what I hear on the platform. Thank you in advance

there is no "target group" for this event, where did you read that?
We want members of all age to join, because everyone has something to say about this theme!
And thanks for pointing out the typo.
I hope to see you at the event,

Apologies for the confusion, @chiarieds, and thanks for understanding :-)
Laura was referring to another initiative in fact - we are focusing on recruiting young disabled members 18 to 25 years old, because at the moment this demographic is one of the most underrepresented group in our membership.
I hope this helps, and see you at the event,

Thank you for the explanation @Giovanni_Scope - I hope you can recruit younger disabled members. However, from the notes I made at the time, Scope identified in the 'Theory of Change' for the online community workshops that younger disabled members (as well as parents of disabled children) join looking for information, but don't stay in the community long nor contribute to it in a significant way.
