My husband has been on Esa contribution based since October 2012 when he was moved over from Incapacity Benefit, he is in the support group.
We have received a letter to say we will be moving over to income based which could be worth more and they are going to back date any monies owing to October 2014
I have always thought we were on too little money but I don't want to build my hopes up for a payment if there's no difference.
There is conflicting information online and I can't make out if there is any monetary difference.
Can anybody please help me

Thank you so much Richard
Best wishes to you too -
Hi cash2 and welcome
When people were transfered from IB to ESA as your husband was. they didn't take into accout any premiums that might have been paid
So does your husband qualify for any premiums ?
Here is the link to gov premium site

Hi cockneyrebel
Thanks for the reply, yes my husband has been on dla for since 2002 or thereabouts, his last claim changed to pip which he is now on, there hasn't been any gap in any of them -
Thanks tomm, yes I've already answered above that my husband has been in receipt of dla/pip throughout.
I just wanted to know what how much the premiums are, we currently receive £283.30 fortnightly as a married couple for cb, what would we receive as a married couple for ib, its not very clear
I do get carers allowance as well if that makes any difference -
You wont get SDP as you can only get carers or SDP
With an IR element you will qualify for free nhs services, dental, optical and prescriptions

What is Sdp?

SDP = Severe Disability Premium

So is there actually any monetary difference for us? Will we be owed anything at all?
Thanks for prompt reply ☺ -
Do you already get council tax reduction and housing benefit ?

Yes we do
The dwp has told us it could be £15 a week, but do we already receive enough by above amounts -
Try putting your details into one of the online benefit calculators to see

I thought somebody on here would know what the totals should be for a married couple, each time I do the calculator it comes up with something different, this is why i said there is so much conflicting information

Hi @cash2,I have just been reading your messages.Im single and I get enhanced pip and income related esa which entitles me to severe disability premium, which is just over £60 a week, but you can’t recieve it if you get carers allowance.Hope this helps
-
Thanks Gillian, I'll just wait and see, they have said its going to take a month because of the amount of claims they have to deal with, this is their decision not ours we were totally unaware of this. It is all because some man is taking the dwp to court
-
Yes @Gillian29 is right , one way to put it, the premium is taken from the claimant of ESA and basically given to the carer who claims carers allowance.
-
There are 2 types of premiums isn't there, enhanced and severe, there is a significant difference in the amount, does this mean we won't get either
-
It is only the SDP that is taken
Enhanced DP is £22.85 for a couple and should still be paid

I will just have to wait and see what comes back
