Hello @chellgibb76 and a warm welcome to the community. Very glad to meet you.
Would you feel up to telling us a little more about yourself? It is safe to do so here and you are among friends, literally from the 'get go'. Knowing more might help us to find ways to be of use to you
Really very glad you are here,
Here and listening,
Warmest best wishes,
Richard -
I am 42 years old mother of 3 married I had a stroke last year and finding it very hard to cope with everything.

Hello @chellgibb76 and thank you for getting back to me. Sorry it has taken me a while to respond.
Hardly surprising you're struggling - I'm going to guess Michelle as your name. It is such a very cruel and devastating thing to happen.
I'm here to care and to listen, to offer encouragement if I can, but you will also find others in the community who have similar experiences and conditions to your own and who will be only too glad to share with you.
To begin with, you might try our Disabled people forum here https://community.scope.org.uk/categories/disabled-people and our Disabled parents thread here https://community.scope.org.uk/categories/disabled-parents. Have a look at some of the discussions and see what you think, perhaps even join in.
For my part I remain here and listening.
Warmest best wishes to you, always,
Richard -
Hi @chellgibb76, welcome to the community!
I'm sorry to hear that you're finding it hard to cope - please do let us know if there's any way we can help and support you, even if you just need a chat.

Hi @chellgibb76
That sounds really tough, do you have any friends nearby? How old are your kids? Are there any local groups you could go to?Scope
Senior online community officer -
Yrs I have a few friends but hate asking people. No local groups about

My husband used to work away for long periods and I do understand that isolation and difficulty in getting out and feeling alone.
I have a chronic illness and I also understand that feeling of not wanting to ask for help.
Do you feel that you need help and support for your own care after the stroke or is it more general feelings of being overwhelmed?Scope
Senior online community officer -
It’s tough ,don’t be afraid to ask for help ,someone somewhere will be there for you .......you are not alone !
-
Just overwhelmed with it plus my son has problems we are going through getting him tested for adhd

It is hard and reaching out is a great step! We have lots of members here who are disabled people and have children so I hope you get to connect with lots more of them as we are a friendly group.
It could be worth having a look around for local groups, if you want to tell me your general area where you live, Im happy to have a search for you.Scope

Our disabled parents category has lots of posts in it from other parents and carers, you might want to take a look through and chat with them?Scope
