Becoming a carer

Me and  my wife had to give up work at Christmas as I have cancer at the back of my thigh. I am now at the point where my wife does everything for me as I have very little use in my leg. We have applied for pip, but my wife cannot become my carer until we are granted it. This is where our problem is. The job centre is pushing for her to get a job. They are expecting her to start looking and applying for jobs. If she goes to work who looks after me? The way we are getting around this at the moment is to get my wife a sick note for stress.does anybody know of another way around this? I really can't  manage without her!

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, until you have a PIP daily living award then there's no other way around this. If you're successful with that the she'll be able to claim the carers element and then her UC claimant commitment will change and no more searches/appointments will be needed.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
