In 2019, we want to celebrate our wonderful Community Champions and so each month, we have been giving one of our champions the new Community Champion of the Month badge.
However, this month we couldn't just focus on one of our Community Champions, when 4 have been recognised not just by us, but by Scope as a whole — winning Scope Volunteer of the Year Awards! So this month we'd like to give a very special thank you to:
@Ails - The winner of our 'New Volunteer' award
@thespiceman - Who won our 'Engaging Communities' award
@Ami2301 - As our 'Game Changer' of the year
@poppy123456 - Whose award is for 'Empowering Others'
We're so happy for each of you and grateful to have you as part of the team!
Every one of our champions is so special to us and I know how special they are to all our community members too, so I hope you join us in congratulating them each month this year.
If you are interested in becoming a Community Champion, then head over to this webpage for more information and to apply.

Hello @Adrian_Scope Thank you from my heart, to the rest of the Team.
Especially have to mention @Chloe_Scope.
Sorry if I embarrassed you my friend, just your kind and supportive to me. Love your words on my recipes thank you and not only me but the community champions and the community.
Glad to have met you pleasure working with you and every one else from the SCOPE team..
This award is not only for me but the community the friends. I know others who have won will say the same.
On behalf of my self thank you never felt so emotive.
Last time I got anything was a years supply of After Eight Mints won them in a competition, unlucky so they all melted by quarter to eight lol...
Old joke but that is me, just a gentle friend uses humour to help bring a smile to any one and a community champion with a heart offering compassion and empathy and my time to those whom I meet and love, care about every day.
Long may it continue .
Made a lot of friends whom we support, cherish care for every day.
They know who they are.
Thank you for being my friend. Love you.
Please take care every one.

@chiarieds
That was funny, wasn't it? ?
Never mind @thespiceman Happens to us all at some time. ?
Last week I texted son's social worker by mistake instead of hubby (same name) and I wrote "good morning handsome".
Talk about embarrassing!!
But son thought it was hilarious ?
We only had social worker mobile number because he kindly gave it when son had zero points for PIP and was in a right state (understandably)
I've deleted it now so I can't make that mistake again!! ? -

Never made 2 speeches in one day but here goes...
I joined the community in February 2018 because I was desperate for a guiding light. @thespiceman was one of the first to welcome me and my thread ended up being over 100 replies long - I didn't realise there was a private message feature at the time! I still remember the moment @Sam_Scope emailed me to offer me the role of a Community Champion.
It wasn't until I became more aware of what had happened to me, in ICU, that I realised I never got the chance to complete the probation period. It was spending time here on the community, welcoming members and offering advice which helped me learn to type again.
I was still in rehab when I came back to the community, spending my time on here, in between physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions. Being a community champion aided my recovery and I will never forget that.
That's probably why I care too much about the community, you've all helped towards giving me my life back and all I hope to do is the role justice.
@Sam_Scope I'm forever thankful to you, you are one of the strongest women I've ever known, thank you for offering me the role of a community champion. Thank you for being you.
@Deb_Scope It was a pleasure to speak with you on Skyper earlier this year, you and Sam have given me the confidence in my speaking during interviews. Albeit, I've not had another interview anywhere yet, but you've given me the oomph to believe in myself. Thank you for offering me the opportunity of being the "face" of the latest fundraising appeal.
@Chloe_Scope I was gutted when your intern role had finished, but I was excited to see you back as a community Officer! You're fabulous in all that you do. Thank you for being a friend, offering advice and support. I hope our friendship continues to grow and I really am looking forward to meeting you at Naidex!
@Richard_Scope Oh, Richard, where do I begin with you? You are one of the most dedicated and funniest men I know. Whenever I've had doubts, you've always been there for me. I'm really grateful for our friendship and long may it continue. You still owe me a goat ?
@Adrian_Scope Since your started here on the community, you've gone above and beyond to help everyone. You've helped shape the community to what it is today, and I hope we continue to have more superhero chats!
@thespiceman mystery man, Italian stallion, you need a dictionary at this rate with how many nicknames you've got! On a series note, thank you for absolutely everything, your messages throughout the scary times last year helped me get through. Your jokes and anecdotes made me smile when I never felt like smiling. You deserve a knighthood for how kind you are, how much you care. You're one in a million and I'm proud to call you my best friend.
@Ails when you joined the community, I knew instantly there was something special about you. I knew you had it in you to become a community champion and you truly deserve the award for all that you do. I'm glad to call you my good friend and long may it continue.
@poppy123456 Its weird to think that it was only a few months ago that we started talking properly. In that time, I've never laughed so much. I'm in awe of your knowledge and how many people you have helped, that's something to be incredibly proud of and it's made me emotional (happy) to know you've been recognised for all that you do.
I can't imagine the future without any of you, or the community. I will be here for as long as I can. Striving for change, aiming to make a difference in the world.
But I could never have achieved what I have in the last year without every single one of you.
Thank you for everything and thank you in advance to what the future holds ?

@Ami2301 - Not knowing your story, but seeing just a glimpse of it just now, just shows what an amazing person you are, & also the importance of Scope. You certainly do your role justice, I hope you don't mind me saying, as I've only been here a short while.Thank you for all I've seen you do here, & my warmest congratulations in sharing this award with your friends.

@Ami2301 You are an incredible person and i'm extremely honoured to call you my friend. Yes, it's only been a few months that we started talking but i'm so thankful that you messaged me that night. I'll always remember that night, a couple of members were being rather nasty to me on here and i think you must have sensed my anxiety at the time because i received a message from you asking me if i was ok.I'll always be grateful to you for messaging me that night because yes i was upset and anxious, some past members have been rather hurtful towards me but you were there to make sure i was ok.Our friendship continued on FB messenger and oh my goodness, we do have a laugh lol. My daughter asks me all the time, who am i laughing at and then says "oh, Ami" lol You're so funny and never fail to have me in stitches of laughter. Watching those videos of the new foods was the funniest thing i've ever watched, still more to watch but had to stop because my sides were aching so much lol. BTW i have some cucumber here especially for you, would you like some? LOLOLYou're incredibly sweet and have a heart of gold! I love you to bits! Then we have @thespiceman yet another dear friend of mine, never fails to make me laugh with his jokes, almost making me fall off my chair laughing. Choking on my drinks, so badly i've had to put a note on my computer desk saying "don't drink when reading a message from thepiceman" haha.My days are most certainly brighter and not as lonely thanks to the both of you for being such wonderful friends. Love you both!Sometimes i think i spend far too much time on here but helping others is in my heart and no matter what i do i just can't get away from wanting to help others. My help and advice will continue for as long as i can.Thank you to admin for asking me to be a community champion all those months ago!I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
