hope this I hope this finds you all well.
I’m deaf and a qualified Teacher of the deaf.
I have a daughter who is deaf - she is amazing. Bilingual which means she speaks English ve try well fluently and uses sign language as well when she is in a situation she needs to sign. My husband is registered deaf blind.
My daughter will go blind one day.
Anyway. I’m nearing the tribunal. I achieved two out of the three personal farther regarding to her new school. School placement -tock. Transport-tick but now the final stage which we feel very strongly but many hearing people are not aware how challenging it is for children and adult in unstructured social situations are and it is one of the most vital part of her learning - interacting -making friends.
Deaf children tends to fall and interact with others who are interested in deafness. It’s a funny situation.
When my husband and I were young everything were covered but now we ha she to fight for every part of the schools education. That is so unfair for ALL PARENTS. We have to go through every step - emotional journey from the first diagnoses. Absolutely appalling.
I hope you all, parents, have time to have a few days of mental break. Which I had just done but now I am t ru big to pick the pieces up for the tribunal. Where to start. Lost my motion and a sense of energy.
Why can anyone come to our homes - listen to what we want to ten our child. And then take over and fight for us.
We work full time
we as a mother/father
we do house work, clean clothes etc
we fight on top of the emotional journey For our child.

It’s so hard. Isn’t it.

Hello @victoriaedin and welcome to the online community
You must be very proud of your daughter that she's able to communicate in both English and sign language, what a skill to have
Can I ask you to clarify what you're nearing the tribunal for? What is the tribunal in relation to?
I'm sorry that it's been a struggle for you lately, and I hope this community can be here to support you, but hopefully in the end it will have been worth the fight when your child gets the help she deserves.
Other users will be able to advise on your situation better than I can, but I happen to be severely sight impaired so I have some knowledge in that particular area. Have you received any support from the RNIB or Deafblind UK with your family's sight and hearing loss?Online Community CoordinatorConcerned about another member's safety or wellbeing? Is it DLA you are going to tribunal for you daughter
Would you daughter not be able to go to a specialised deaf school and do you get any support from social services for your family
Tribunal can be steessful and take it out of you but it is worth the fight in the end knowing you have done everything you can do -

Hello @victoriaedin. I'm sorry you're having to fight so hard for what's best for your daughter. It's really difficult when you're going up against education authorities etc.
Have you got any support at all? There are often local organisation that can help or act as advocates to take some of the pressure.Community Manager
