I filled in my PIP forms middle of December , this is my renewal and was told it could take up to 12 months to get to my papers . they need to take on more staff to rid of the backlog, my car is up for renewal in July, one says don't do anything , insurance will automatically be renewed but another says I have to make phone calls to sort it out and to get an extension to keep the car...so confused !!!

Backlogs are huge because of obvious reasons. We are still in the middle of a pandemic where cases have gone through the roof. People are isolating and still working from home under extreme pressure. Estimated timescales from returning your form to having a decision is about 10 months. If you have a mobility car you won't be able to choose another unless you have at least 12 months remaining on your existing PIP award. If your lease is due to end on your existing vehicle then you'll need to ring motability who are always extremely helpful and they will only be too happy to extend the lease until a decision's been made on your review. Insurance on the vehicle will be dealt with by RSA motability.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
