There was a thread where someone said about new slang (I can't find it to recall who so my apologies for not crediting <3) 
But I thought it would be fun to look at old sayings or things we say

Such as
"I'm off to spend a penny"

and
"Cough it up, it might be a gold watch" (or was this just people I knew? lol)

    Oh I thought of another, my nan used to comment on how much we'd grown and say: "Look at your legs, they go right up to your bottom!"
    It used to make me feel really tall and like I had long legs but everyone's go up to their bum :D

    In this context I think clout means an item of clothing. My Great Aunt used to say this to me when I was a little girl saying I should keep wearing my vest until the end of May! :)
    Mind she also used to say 'Every little helps as the old woman said as she tiddled in the sea.' I gather this was the 'polite' version.

    It'd be much too warm to wear a vest until end of May now! 
    I can't figure out what the impolite version of the second one would be.
