I am 45 years of age and had my left side achilles extended for the second time . Don't remember the first time so upto now 4 months on crutches which is affecting my employment. My motor skills is getting worse and my left arm seems to be getting more weaker . I am due to have a mri on my brain next week which is rather worrying feel like the world is caving in on me.

Sorry to hear things not that great for you at the moment, well done for keeping going, recovery from an op is never easy. You mention it is effecting your employment. What do you for work? Maybe there are some adjustments that can be made to make things more manageable for you. Or some new mobility equipment that will help you get your life back on track. Access to work can provide funding for just about anything if it is required to enable you to work. They are really excellent, and worth speaking to. Please don't give up, you will come out the other side of this, a much stronger person.

Your most welcome Benjy that is what we are here for, and this forum is a great place to share our experiences, and together hopefully continue to learn new things, that will help all have greater opportunities and a better quality of life.
How are things going now? Have you had your MRI scan? -
Hope all goes well Benjy. I've had similar problems over the past 12 months and I know it's not easy, all I can advise is that it takes time to adapt but that you do learn to deal with it and move on

Had mri scan results this afternoon so hey ho we will have to see

Hope you get the results you want soon - Well done keeping going with your recovery from your Op. Are you getting the support you need? Are there things you can do to aid your recovery? Feel free to post any questions or concerns you have on the SCOPE forum and we will do our best to answer them or at least point you in the direction of someone who will know. Have you looked up any of the articles Scope has on aging and CP? They are very good. :-)

Does depression and cp go hand in hand
-
From what I understand, there's no definitive link but I guess that all the limitations put on us by CP can lead to depression. I had it a few years ago, although whether the cp caused it I guess i'll never know. I found that half a dozen sessions with a counselor who specialised in cognitive behaviour therapy worked wonders and I've never looked backed since.
