I have been working all my life until redundancy recently. (Counselling/adoption - over 30 yrs). Happy to be of help to others....
Have CP affecting lower limbs. More time on feet and less at desk has exacerbated ankle pain in one foot. Surgery being offered but little seems available to weigh up the extra issues to consider as someone living alone. It would be ankle fusion and then at a subsequent time double tendon lengthening. I had the latter as a child.
I use a mobility scooter and drive an automatic.
