You can claim uc if you have 16,000 in savings, can you claim if you have an expensive car? 🚙

You can claim if you have less than £16k in savings, anything between £6k and £16k will see your UC reduced, a car does not count as savings.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

There are many people that work and claim benefits such as UC and have expensive cars. Some people may also have those cars on a lease and pay monthly for them. Having an expensive vehicle doesn't exclude someone from claiming UC.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Yes. But you can't buy an expensive car just before applying for UC... They'll see that in your bank statements and it'll be classed as deprivation of capital.
If you've owned an expensive car for a while, and have then fallen on hard times, of course you can claim UC.
I also wouldn't class £30k as an expensive car nowadays. A new Ford Focus or VW Golf costs that much now.
