New Year, New Me vibe?

I have my therapist ringing me at 3pm. I’m feeling rather anxious to be honest.

Does anyone else hate the whole ‘New Year, New Me’ vibe that occurs every year? It really doesn’t help with my OCD and perfectionism. If you want to do something, start today and go for it? Sorry to sound grouchy, I just find it a challenging time with my Autism.

Hi @OnlyAlex Good luck with your phone call. I agree if you want to do something, start today. Too much pressure to think on the 1 January everything is suddenly going to change somehow. Then if people make a New Year Resolution they feel a failure when they do not keep it up. Take care.

@OnlyAlex Good luck with the phone call. Take things at your own pace, everyone has different time scales and goals  :)

    I agree @OnlyAlex

Have said this to lots of people before, when you have a goal why put it off till Monday / 1st of the month / 1st of the year

I often hear people say they are starting a diet next Monday or something similar

It's just an excuse to delay things

I made a lot of progress on myself these past 9 months, I personally agree about the issues of marking a "New Year, New Me". Especially with my ADHD and my own perfectionism. But my therapist said to take the Christmas-New Year period to relax and not think about the future at all until after New Years :P I'll be starting 2024 in a better place than I've ever been, I feel like my life was on pause for my entire 20s. I plan to make the most of my 30s, so we're having a session at the start of January to do a little year plan :)
They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

I find it so odd, glad it’s not just me!

That’s really cool to know, thanks. I hope your planning session with your therapist in January goes well for you. 🤗
