Hi can I have opinions on whether or not the DWP were right to give zero points on the managing budgeting decisions descriptor when I told them I struggled to cope with £28000 of debt since 2008 and I’m currently in an IVA only by chance of a random cold call from an IVA specialist company,I also told them that I have to run anything to do with finances by my wife as I don’t make sensible decisions regarding spending.I have autism and adhd, thanks

Sorry won't be the answer you want to hear to yes I think they are right, debt has nothing to do with PIP.
As far as you debt goes are you sure an IVA is the correct answer ?, in some circumstances a DRO makes more sense.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡 -
Hello @PBB
Just wanted to comment and say welcome to the community! I see Woodbine has given some advice. I wondered, with your autism and adhd, have you had any support to help you with your struggle to cope with financial decisions. Finance is something I have seen many with autism and adhd struggle with and The National Autistic Society has information pages that can help.Hannah - She / Her

Right ok so when I opened 7 credit cards up back in 2008 impulsively even though I already had a £10000 bank loan and maxed the cards out totalling my personal debt to £24000 and only just starting self employment which went downhill fast leaving me unable to make the payments and then not wanting to deal with the creditors resulting in two county court judgements and years of stress and anxiety shows that I’m capable of budgeting my finances.

Debt is not uncommon and many many people find themselves deeply in debt when in a perfect world they might not.
Having said that have you had a decision on your PIP ? And what was the award ?2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡 -
zero points after the initial assessment, zero after the reconsideration and eventually the DWP representative at the tribunal decided to give me 2 points for needing prompting to meet people face to face,I think they should feed that one back to the assessor
