Carers allowance whilst on pip?

Hi all! I’m getting a little confused about my benefits as I’ve heard a few different things from the UC team, I currently receive PIP for myself and I’m also receiving LCWFA. My son also gets DLA and I was told I should be claiming carers/carer Element by someone at UC but then a colleague told me no I can’t because it would cancel out my LCWRA so I’m just a little confused on what I should/shouldn’t be doing. 

Any advice is greatly appreciated

    Claiming carers allowance would mean it’s just deducted in full from any UC entitlement so there’s no financial gain to claiming it.

    For Carers element, the same person can’t claim LCWRA at the same time. In this situation the higher element would be paid, which is LCWRA.

    If you’re claiming UC with a partner then they can claim carers element for looking after your child, unless the already claimant for looking after you.
