HI my son is 10 and will be having multilevel surgery later this year and I wondered if anyone has any advise/information/tips they could share.

As a family we are all pretty nervous about it but are hopefully doing the best thing for him.

He currently uses a walking frame and sometimes a wheelchair but he is being more crouched so if we don't do anything he will be in his wheelchair full time.

Any information from anyone would be appreciated.

    Hi @nat123

    I had multilevel surgery back in 1990. Post-surgery physiotherapy is so, so important; make sure that is set in stone. Also, from a psychological perspective, talk to your son about how the surgery will help him in his future and not because there's anything 'wrong' with him that needs fixing. Really happy to chat further with you.

    @nat123 Welcome to the community.

    The build up to surgery can be a worrying time. If you have questions, write these down and ask your son's specialist. It's ok to ask anything you're uncertain about.

    I've included the link to a great Facebook page for families and carers of children with CP. It's a space where families ask questions, share information and support each other. Cerebral Palsy UK

    If you would like to have a chat with our CP Network team, we're happy to talk things through.

    Best wishes for your son's surgery.
