Hi there, I’m a mom of a 20 year old beautiful lady with cerebral palsy…recently, she is complaining of pain and fatigue..sounds like potential fibromyalgia, but hard to figure out. Tried injections, muscle relaxants to no avail. MRI looks good..just looking for some direction and advice please

Good to speak with you (virtually).

As we age with CP we can experience an increase in fatigue and pain. This can sometimes be attributed to the amount of energy that we expend doing everyday tasks and the fact that our bodies do not move in the most efficient way, creating wear and tear on joints and tendons. This can lead to Post-Impairment Syndrome. Thanks to @chiarieds for posting the link. Exercise at whatever level your daughter can manage is so important for maintaining mobility and managing pain. Swimming and strength training have benefits, and so does diet. Diet is important in so far as it can help reduce the body's inflammatory response and reduce inflammation in the joints that cause aches and pains.
