Campaigns for scope.
Hi all, I don't know if anyone is aware but Miriam in Scope is or has been for some time for access to play areas which are Disabled Friendly. We, and when I say we, I was lucky enough to come across the Scope site many years ago when refurbishing a park in Cathays in Cardiff where I used to live which was looking a bit…

Rosie Jones documentary
I think this discussion fits most with this category but if it would be better elsewhere I apologise. I was wondering what people's thoughts are on the title of the new Rosie Jones documentary coming out on channel 4 later this month? Id rather not state it here but it can be easily found on Google and includes a slur…

Welsh Railways.
We've booked a holiday in Wales and was hoping to do some of the little railways. But I have been so shocked to see that none of them offer free carers and the most they offer is a 10% discount. Has anyone tried challenging this?

DWP setting a higher budget to find money that welfare claimants should not be claiming!
I am advised by a good friend who happens to be both a District and County Councillor that more money is to be thrown into finding out if people are welfare benefit frauds. There will be an increase in the number of investigators who will follow and spy on claimants in addition to using the CCTV system for the first time.

No more assisted shops from Sainsbury's
So, after years of using Sainsbury's as a wheelchair user because they offer assisted shops, I go in today only to be told they don't offer assisted shops anymore. I only get to leave the house once every 2 weeks to do my grocery shopping, so I make a thing of it, I pop into other shops (as my Sainsbury's is in the town…

Access to Banking if you can't show proof of ID in branch
I'm a carer the person I look after is housebound. He needs to open a new bank account because his current provider no longer offers current accounts or ATM cards on any of their accounts. Although he can provide ID he can't get into a branch to verify this and since Covid the banks I've approached don't do home visits. To…

Wheelchair week for MP's
Do you think it would be a good idea for the likes of Scope to have a wheelchair week for MP's? It would raise the awareness of everyday barriers for wheelchair users and thing might change for the better. After all the Equality Act has not made life easier for us.

Join Me! Change the legislation! Events and Festivals should have properly accessible toilets
As a long term visitor to Womad festival, last year I visited for the first time as a wheelchair user. To my dismay I found that whilst I could drive my wheelchair into the loos there wasn't enough room to then get out, get to the loo or close the door. There also weren't handrails in many of the loos or sometimes only…
