ARTISTIC ARTIST
Artistic artist Nihilistic nihilist Autistic person Please let's not invent terms to describe ourselves. We are not "autistics". It sounds too much like another word we no longer use. Autistic is an adjective not a noun. Scope is very clear about acceptable terminology to use when describing autistic people such as myself.…

Deed Poll issues
A couple of days ago the government rejected my attempt to change my name by deed poll! I've been considering it for a while now and this just seemed the correct moment. Absurdly, their objection is that (for no justifiable reason) numbers can't be included. They also argue that names must be "pronounceable". I've always…

Blue Badge
I have noticed a lot of disabled drivers who are parking in parent and child spaces if disabled parking is full. Does this not get us a bad name.

Breathe with me!
Fear of the unknown is the worst mistake most of us sometimes make, but we're often not the boss of that. It's not our fault. Like cats, we're wired to run from red flags. But we have a choice. We can control that. Very unlike cats we understand the nature of consequence. That we can change things in the future. I wish I…

I'm Not Ashamed
I feel as though many people are guarded as to their true feelings, and I reckon this is a barrier to progress. I believe in authenticity, and I can say that authentically I get quite upset when I see things that remind me of the innocence of childhood, such as teddy bears and stuff and stuff that is directly associated…

Sitting to do housework
Over the last year I’ve started doing more and more jobs sitting down – peeling vegetables at the table, folding laundry from a chair, even brushing my teeth perched on a stool. Part of me feels guilty, as if I’m “giving in”, but my knees definitely cope better when I save standing for the essentials.

Going through a really hard time and cant find anyone who understands
I am sorry to come here and make a fuss but really not coping. My disabilities seem to be worse or maybe it's just all this stress My Dad died. It's a couple of years ago. But in his will he made the solicitor his executor. I'm sure he didn't realise what that meant as he had Parkinsons at the time and I didn't realise but…

Disability and additional heating costs
Hello everyone! I hope you are well and able to keep warm enough. I wish those people who have the power to reduce heating costs, for those of us who have a disability, would ‘walk a mile in our shoes’. Not literally of course as few of us are able to walk a mile even if we wanted to! Those of us who are housebound are…
