MIG decrease with migration from ESA to UC - Is this lawful?
Hi I have a package of support from my local council and had my affordability calculation redone when I migrated across from ESA to UC. I previously had a Minimum Income Guarantee MIG of £180ish per week (because of disability premiums), but it has now been slashed to £112 per week (presumably because there are no…

When did you realise your home wasn’t quite right for an ageing parent?
I live with my parents in a fairly ordinary house and it’s only in the last couple of years that I’ve started to notice how many little things make life harder for my dad as he gets older and less steady on his feet. Nothing feels “terribly wrong” with the house, but there are stairs, awkward corners and a bathroom that…

Lose yoPIP = Lose your DREs
Hi Just wondering if anyone has experience of this I have recently lost my PIP and am appealing it with the expectation of a positive outcome. Finding people like me a home could take 47 years
Story by Mik Scarlet and The Metro That’s how long someone joining a local authority waiting list for a new-build wheelchair-accessible home in England might have to wait. Such is the awful state of accessible housing in the UK right now – and I know the personal struggle all too well. I’ve been disabled since birth, after…

DLG - Can we disagree with what is proposed?
We are going through the DLG process as my daughter has Muscular Dystrophy. One of the proposed adaptions is a downstairs wet-room. We have proposed a hydrotherapy bath with shower above as this will have a positive effect on her muscles but the proposal from the DFG assessor states a shower with shower-chair. The plan is…

How do you make housework less of an energy crash?
I live in a small flat, but somehow housework still manages to wipe me out if I’m not careful. With a dodgy arm and wobbly balance, even things like laundry and cleaning the bathroom can turn into a full workout. I’ve started breaking jobs into tiny chunks and using anything that saves bending or carrying too much. It’s…
