But surely the person who you see is relevant?

How could they have got access to support if their level of blindness had not been registered? I know GP's can do referrals but is there only a certain amount of help they can offer?

Also with the types of tests and how in-depth they are, would that not be relevant too? My GP nor the ophthalmologist at a general hospital didn't perform the tests that I had at Moorfields.

What I'm trying to say (I apologise, I sometimes struggle explaining my thought process), is that I wouldn't have gone to Moorfields if I needed glasses to help me read. As you would be seen by a medical professional higher up in the field, would that not indicate that you are visually impaired?

I think that came across right, I'm sorry if it didn't, I'll try this way as well.

If you go to the opticians, they can help with glasses or contact lenses and no further action is needed to see if there is a cause.
If you go to a hospital or specialised hospital, there you will have so many in-depth tests indicating you do have something wrong and are visually impaired.

This is all from my own experience, not presenting as fact, just really curious by it all.

I ware glasses because of a condition from birth, I've not seen anyone and I doubt my gp knows because only opticions picked it up. I ware glasses they don't cure the condition but improve it slightly.

I know you didn't say, it was a question that popped in my mind while replying.

I'm not saying it is completely and solely relevant, but if it is a factor.

Like Mike, I also wasn't diagnosed (until after my own research, then saw a geneticist who specialised in my main disorder who confirmed this) until I was 47; so similar.  Along the way my son & I met a neurosurgeon, who seemed surprised we both had nystagmus at the extreme of our lateral gaze. Tho I hadn't known this, to me it wasn't surprising that we both shared this, as I had become aware that I'd passed my genetic disorder onto all of my children.
I realise my post isn't all about visual problems, yet they (as with other disorders) can be picked up upon by varying specialists, or not, as the case may be.
Sadly one Dr along the way didn't want to step on another Drs toes as this rheumatologist actually said, whilst being very concerned our son might have Marfan Syndrome. Others tried to dispute/minimise that we had a genetic disorder (it seems due to losing our youngest daughter). Our son was seen privately by a neuroradiologist, who rang me saying that twice the above mentioned neurosurgeon had rung him asking him not to report on his findings....
So, yes, you may have a visual, or other disorder that's genetic, as Mike says, but it will definitely pre-exist prior to diagnosis. And sadly it's not always clear cut that you will get appropriate tests for any disorder, or it may take time, I've found.

Hi @Adrian_Scope - When I look at 'My drafts,' there appears to be an option to delete them. However, clicking 'Delete' just takes me to the individual posts. I didn't even realise I had so many drafts, but would like to delete them all now. How do I do this, please?

I've only just realised that the questions showing up in a slightly brighter white are the new/new comment threads...lol

Why are there no dates on posts?

Sorry @chiarieds, it seems like the only way to delete them at the moment is to actually post them. I've raised it as a bug and hopefully it can be addressed soon.

These should show on the desktop version but not mobile. I've asked for it to be looked at as I know I like to see the dates that things were posted too. :)

One thing i have noticed is that i don't know whether there's any new threads because it doesn't tell me. I have to specifically look for them and if i haven't commented on that thread, even if there's other comments, i have no way of knowing its new until i read it and the realise i hadn't previously read it.

If someone has commented on an existing thread where i've previously commented on then it tells me there's X amount of new comments. I've missed several threads recently because of this and it's frustrating.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Has anyone ever reported a formatting issue with this site? I insert a 1 line sauce between paragraphs when using any iOS device and what then appears is entirely random. 3, 2 or 1 line spacing. Really irritating.

That happens to me too and the same on another forum. I've never reported it because i thought it may have been something to do with my computer but clearly it isn't. Defintely worth reporting now i know it's not me.

    Thanks for the continued feedback!

I can try taking your profile off of private if you'd like @Username_removed? I appreciate that doesn't deal with the wider issue, but it could be a quick fix for now if you no longer want your account to be private.

I'm also having difficulty formatting answers where i want to quote bits of a proviso post in shorts bits with breaks in between where i post comments on the relevant bits. Again it's a problem on a another site I use so I suspect it's the same background engine.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Click on your profile photo next to your message, then 'View profile,' or at the top of this page click on your profile photo, then click again. Not too sure how useful your wall is now, if you're considering any 'activity,' as I'm not sure if a member would currently know how to use it.
