We are being hit by a number of events that are really getting us down.. We had a wheely bin full of rubbish emptied over our garden wall last night - I know that it was Halloween but no excuse...... Previous to that we had a number of capping stones removed from the wall - which cost £60 to replace.. Last winter we had a…

Beauty, fashion and sight loss
Holly Tuke blogs about disability, fashion and lifestyle at Life Of A Blind Girl. Today, she talks to us about the misconceptions surrounding visual impairment and style. Many people have the idea that blind and visually impaired people can’t look stylish or that we can’t have an interest in fashion, however this common…

Hydrotherapy / warm pool near Liversedge, West Yorkshire
Hello all, I'm new here and not sure if this has been asked before, but wanted to give it a shot. I'm desperately trying to find private hydrotherapy sessions or a warm pool to continue on from NHS hydrotherapy I've had. I found hydrotherapy in a warm pool to be the only exercise I've been able to tolerate and actually…

Using Slimming world or Weight Watchers as a wheelchair user
I am trying to lose weight and have been for many years, I wondered if there were any wheelchair users here who use either of the above groups? I have contacted them both and neither have any wheel on scales nationally which I think in this day and age is far from inclusive, especially for such a large and lucrative…

Beauty/nails Advice from wheelchair users
Hi :) I know this might seem a bit shallow for here, but I don't know where else to ask this. People in self propelled wheelchairs, is it possible to have nice/artsy nails? Not super long but kinda medium, but with like pattern nail polish and stuff, or does it just chip/break off? Thank you in advance ^_^

Is this comment discrimination?
A manager described me as having a "persecution complex" when I raised a legitimate workplace concern. I do not suffer from a persecution complex, nor do I suffer from psychosis or schizophrenia. From what I have seen, the manager did not investigate my concern, as it seen that it was simply my delusion that was the issue.

Hi, my name is ken606! It was gut wrenching to be excluded from the Covid19 Carers Payment
Like everyone else in our position, it was gut wrenching to be excluded from the Covid19 Carers Payment while looking after a disabled relative for the last 2yrs. Accessible Toilets. What's your experience?
Recently on a trip to Wimbledon I had a pretty poor experience with their accessible toilets, they were either being cleaned, dirty, lacking toilet roll, or the door wouldn't lock! Whether it's at a big event or in your local town or a shop, what is your experience of accessible toilets generally like?

The Tori Party?
We've all been sharing our views on the mini-budget on the community lately. It's got me thinking about what your manifesto would include, if you had your own political party. For fun, you can also name your party :) Mine would have to be the Tori Party, I suppose... What points would you include in your manifesto? Comment…

Is it cheaper to cure someone or pay them benefits?
A random silly question that has been on my mind... In a country where there is a taxpayer-funded healthcare system alongside a benefits system, such as the UK, is it more viable for the state to treat someone who is out of work and receiving financial aid due to a (potentially) treatable long-term illness, or to keep them…

recently moved near hospital, so had to change to UC from ESA *NIGHTMARE!*
Since moving to nearby Colchester Hospital obv due to health, we've been treated in a way I can only describe as passively abusive by UC Case Worker. Which flares up our illnesses and is generally making life horrible. Every day, my husband tries to speak to them by phone or journal to re establish our previous Benefits…
