i'm afraid so @Ash007, TP will erode pound for pound whenever rent rises, benefit is increased etc.

Yes unfortunately that's the way Transitional Protection is designed to work.

Hi @Ash007 and a warm welcome to the communtiy from me😊
Unfortunately this is right for the reasons mentioned above.
It's lovely to have you here and I hope you enjoy your time on the community😊0 -
I have had this happen to me to cover my rent, they've taken off money to pay the extra rent increase from my transitional protection also.
Do we still get the uplift to the single standard allowance of £400.14 to £424+ or does that erode also? Also does the LCWRA element go up or stays the same?
Now having to pay full council tax.

The rates uplift for both basic rate and LCWRA is also taken from Transitional Protection.
You will only get an increase in payment if you have less TP remaining than the rates uplift. (Around £30)

Council Tax is a separate issue, Council Tax Reduction is decided on at a local level and each local authority has different rules for this.
There was one court case found in the claimants favour and a few more going through the system currently. Whether that will change the picture across more or all Councils remains to be seen.

Thanks for confirming it I had a feeling this would happen? The DWP are a bunch of con merchants. I have a couple of years till retirement thank god, how on earth the expect people to survive. I have to pay full Council Tax of £1,109 also now.

Yes Kimi thanks, I know that each council does charge this Tax. I have done the application for help still awaiting outcome. I'm also taking mine to court of these charges too.
