Hi Guys, I applied for PIP on the 19th May 2022, I sent back all evidence I could think that was relevant. I contacted them a couple of weeks ago to see where I was in regards to my claim, and had a conversation about the struggle I would have in getting to an assessment centre. They said I could have a telephone assessment, because of my my mobility issues. I received a call today, not planned from the Independant Assessment people, who literally asked a three questions to eloborate on my claim. At the end of the call I asked when my assessment might be, and they told me due to the evidence I provided I would not need an assessment, and that they would write report. Now I am off telephone I am concerned that cause it wasnt a planned call, that I should have asked or said something that I didnt.... Please advise if anyone has been in this situation.
Thanks
Thanks

Sounds like you’ve had a paper based assessment and they just needed to ask a few questions. When this happens they don’t usually give you an appointment date/time.Once the report is written and returned to DWP the decision can take between 2-12 weeks.0

Welcome to the community @tigs123
I can imagine it was pretty disconcerting to get an unexpected call! We've had a few people mention similar experiences on the community, and they also felt a little worried due to feeling underprepared.
As poppy123456 has said, it sounds like they just needed to ask you a couple of questions, but will mainly be looking at your forms. Are you happy with the evidence you provided in your forms?0 -
I think so, just concerned i should have said more0

Hi James, I called DWP yesterday to give them more information, since I have had an appointment with my consultant. They said I am in a pile awaiting a decision and I should hear in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime he is going to send out report to me.
James when did you apply ?

Such a frustrating process, having said that I didnt return completed claim document and evidence until 26th June. If I do hear in a couple of weeks I guess it will be quite quick0

Morning @tigs123. Thank you very much for your useful respond. I hope everything goes well with your claim.
My claim has been so so fast cant even explain. I started applying on 18th May this year and received a call 10 days ago from the independent assessment centre for a permission that my claim will be paper based. I asked her do you want me to answer any questions she said no. So my claim was fast and I was asked no questions at all. So not sure if that is good or bad as I am too overhelmed. So if the decision comes in the next few weeks. Then it will be four months only 🤷♂️0 -
Thanks for responding. I hope its a good thing based on not having a thorough assessment, and trusting evidence sent. Lets hope we both receive a positive outcome. Keep me posted.0

Hi James, lets hope they do go with your report. I received a text this morning, saying I am being awarded PIP. I havent received report or anything else yet. I called PIP helpline judging by next payment amount I have enhanced for daily living and mobility.0
-
@tigs123 Congratulations. I have received a text today too and it says that I have been awarded PIP. Checked with the Automated Line and I have received both Enhanced Daily Living and Mobility of £627.60. We both have positive outcomes. Really happy for you 😁0

Really happy for you too. I spoke to customer services. I think he said award period until August 2028. But until I have physical proof being letter I cannot be certain. Let me know how long your award period is, if you don't mind.0

One more thing i did request report to be sent to me.0

@tigs123 thats good to hear. At least you dont need to worry about it anymore till to 2028. Tbh I didnt have a chance to speak to the customer service as no one answered I was on the line for 45mins. May call in the afternoon as I have a hospital appoitment now. However, on my report the Assesor has ticked the box of it states that "No requirement to arrange a review of this claim". So I guess I have to wait for the letter or call in the afternoon.0

@james19o6 Ticking this box can mean an 'ongoing' (10 years) award recommendation. I hope that is true for you0

Hi James, thanks for giving feedback. I will keep my eyes out for the tick, however even if I have 6 years at this point I am happy.0

So if you dont mind me asking just to confirm. Ongoing means in 10 years time they will request a review?0
