    Hi @Ollyoyster It is understandable to worry about your surgery and what is being discussed on benefits.

    It does help to write things down. We are here to help each other where we can, and no one minds you posting your thoughts.

    Please take care of yourself.

    Hi @Ollyoyster

    I understand you being anxious about your surgery since it is an unknown. I know a few people who have had a knee replacement and the surgery itself went well and gave them a better quality of life so I hope that will be the same for you. Can you discuss your concerns with a health professional to put your mind at ease about that?

    Definitely understand your worry about the benefits situation since it is really awful. I am really struggling with that myself, to be honest I'm petrified. The anxiety has me in tears.

    I am so glad that we have somewhere that we can chat and find support.

    Take care xx

    @Ollyoyster
    Good morning I just wanted to let you know I’ve had both knees replaced the first one in 2022 the second in 2024.
    It’s totally understandable to be anxious but if you do the exercise’s the physio does with you in the hospital and carry them on once your home you will benefit greatly.
    You will be a bit uncomfortable for a little while but you will be given decent pain relief.

    I can honestly say it’s been great I did have a longer recovery with the second but I’m no longer in unbearable pain due to my knees.

    I wish you all the best for your op and wish you a speedy recovery afterwards.

    As for the benefits side I’m also anxious but I pray it’s not going to be as bad as we had first thought.

    ❤️

    @Ollyoyster

    Thank you and I’m glad the replies you got back have helped ease your anxiety a little.

    Yes I’m delighted I got my knees done but I have arthritis in most parts of my body my hips, hands feet and think it could be in my back now.
    ( I’m greedy )😂
    But seriously I can honestly say I can’t believe the relief on my body after my knee replacements has been amazing and I would encourage anyone that has bedn offered the surgery to definitely get it done 😊

    Look after yourself ❤️

    To all that have posted about worries about surgery and Benefits.

    Surgery is a simple fix as the surgeon will discuss with you any issues not only about surgery but any complaints you are being seen for. When I say surgeons, don't take me litterally, but the people that are getting you ready for surgery, and/or physio people that have diagnosed any issues. They are all very helpful and don't mind you ringing them even your own GP who may refer you to someone who can put your mind at rest.

    As for benefits: You have to realise that benefits are paid because you have had a diagnosis. The DWP or PIP will assess the severity of the impact to daily living and assist in financial help to get other aids that you may not thingk you are entitled to.

    Over the years the system (Headlines) have stated that there are to be severe cut backs to benefits for long term sick and disabled folk. Can you imagine them cutting back on Benefit entitlements and that person dying because someone at the assessment providers stated s/he saw none of the conditions that were entered on the PIP2 Form,

    In order to make this claim they have to show where they arrived at this and show supporting evidence, not just say, it also like yours has to be on headed paper giving their skills and expertise, and what is their opinion if outside their remit.

    SCOPE are looking to simplify the system but because the DWP believe that cutting benefits is the correct way to get people off benefits then do that in parliament and say so not in headlines released to people that support what is being said and not what needs to be done to fix the system of benefits.
