Why is UC for working parents so....

We migrated in feb to Uc from tax credits, our child was on high rate so got the topup and we got 85% back for childcare.
We are now been told yes we get the higher rate addon for disability on our award, but because out income as a joint claim is over £673 they have taken off minus‑ £1,524.64 .
I understand we dont get the family or child eliment but if we are on a protected migration why are they not topping it up for the years transition? They are saying its as its not lower.
Can anyone help please?

Transitional Protection is added if your UC award is lower than legacy benefits, so at the time of transfer you aren't worse off.
Transitional Protection reduces over time, as the annual increases happen or by new elements that you later become entitled to.
The one year Transitional Protection is only for those migrating from Tax Credits who have over £16000 of capital.

We used to get £74.69 x4 would be £298.76 which wasn't income based for the dla topup, add on the childcare if correct we are fully worse off and not getting any protection at all.
