Carers allowance & travelling

Hello everyone.
I am currently getting carers allowance for looking after someone and he is in the process of getting direct payments and i will be his PA.
With getting direct payments i think i will be over the limit allowed.
I have checked online and it says i can include expenses.
- travel costs between different workplaces that are not paid for by your employer, for example fuel or train fares
Will i be able claim the millage travelling from my house to his house? The trip will only be made for taking caring of him.

Hi there @Denny83 and welcome to the community. 😁
I've had a quick look online and found this which hopefully may help? If the trip is for work, then you should be able to claim toward petrol costs.0 -
Thank you for that i found that online also but just wanted to double check and not dig myself into a big hole haha.
Also what other expenses are we able to claim? For example if i were to buy specialist clothing which costs £30 would they deduct the £30 over a year or how does that part work?

Haha, no problem at all @Denny83 it's a bit of a minefield isn't it?
According to the Gov.co.uk website, expenses can include:
- 50% of your pension contributions
- Equipment you need to do your job, for example specialist clothing. 😁
- Travel costs between different workplaces that are not paid for by your employer, for example fuel or train fares
- Business costs if you’re self-employed, for example a computer you only use for work
- If you pay a carer to look after the disabled person or your children while you work, you can treat care costs that are less than or equal to 50% of your earnings as an expense. The carer must not be your spouse, partner, parent, child or sibling.
0 - 50% of your pension contributions

But for example if i were to buy specialist clothing for £30 would they do 30 divided by 52? 52 weeks in a year?

Now that part I'm not sure of I'm afraid.
