This is my great grandfather born 1866

He was a one leg running champion and a fishmonger – he was also a leading light in the Royal Antediluvian Order Of Buffaloes (a type of freemasons) – he was married twice, the second time at age 70 to a 30 year old girl…..

He also stood for MP in his town but lost narrowly

Here he is with some of his running medals

Brilliant picture @Wibbles, what an interesting chap!

That's amazing you've got back so far @Amberpearl! The earliest I've got is down to about the 1600s. We have some difficult surnames in my family so it's hard to trace past that point. It's so fascinating to find out where your family comes from.

it's amazing how many people travelled the world and settled, my family started in Scotland then went down to Newcastle. A lot branched out to different countries

I recently started looking into my family history. I found a website called "Find a Grave," which has pictures of gravestones throughout the country. If you have a name, a rough idea of the dates you're looking for, and a possible location, this may help some of you in your searches.
