Blue Badge moving into new area with different council

Hello
My partner has a blue badge and we are hopefully moving into a different council area in a couple of months. This will be 5 hours away from current area
What do we do about the blue badge, as we are moving and he will still need one when we move to the new area ?
I was not sure if our blue badge would be valid in a different council area. OR if we had to apply for a new one in the new council
Thanks

Your best bet is to contact the concessionary team at the Council in your new locale. I think each authority does things a little differently. In ours I think that the badge would just be allowed to run until it expired and then you'd apply afresh in the new council area. But it's better to check with the authority to see if they have any particular requirements.

Many thanks. I will email the new council and see what they say. Thanks for your reply.

You're welcome :)
I process blue badges and bus passes as part of my job although I'm not involved in the decision process for awarding them, and I've not ever had a customer who's been asked to reapply for a BB before it's expiry date. Bus passes, yes, but not BBs. But each different locality does have slightly different rules, so it's better to ask and be sure. :)
Hopefully your new LA has a lovely concessionary transport team who can help you figure things out :)2 -
Many thanks again for your help x
Much appreciated
