Hi, my name is Marc1! Scored 10 points for daily living on report, do they stick to the points?

Hi , I had Pip assessment a couple of weeks ago. I suffer from a Depressive disorder, I am divorced living with elderly Parents. I help care for my mother who has Dementia.
I have also been assessed as having LCW due to my illness by the DWP assessment
I requested my assessment report from the Pip helpline and was sent my report.
I have scored 10 points for daily living and at the end of the report it says re assess in 2 years.
My question is, do the DWP usually stick to the points the assessor awards or can they upgrade or downgrade the scores.
Many thanks. I am so stressed about this and it’s upset my mum and dad because of this.
Thanks.

Hi @Marc1, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you're so stressed out about this, it's not easy. Most of the time they will make the award based off what's suggested in the report but there are rare cases where they might award something differently. Hopefully your case will all go through nice and smoothly 😊
Would you be happy to be receiving the 10 points from your report, or were you hoping for more points in other areas?

It is very unusual for a decision maker to disagree with the points recommended by a health assessor although in theory they can. In my work over the past 2 years I have supported 25 clients to make PIP claims and have never come across a case yet.

Hi Lauren29
That’s great. I have my fingers crossed.I would be nice if the decision maker finds me 2 more points but it would be a help if I got the standard amount, I think I would be concerned to go for mandatory reconsideration in case I got nothing.
many thanks for your input.0 -

Good morning Marc and I am so very pleased for you @Marc1 ! It's one less thing to have to stress about and to be able to concentrate on your own health whilst also helping with your mum's care. I'm sure it will be a big relief for your mum and dad too. I hope you and your mum and dad have a lovely day and take care x
