Leaving work due to ill health, would I be eligible?

Hi! Not sure if this is the right discussion place but hoping some people can advise.
II'mcurrently on long term sick due to burnout, mental health and energy limitations from my chronic health conditions. I think the job, which I started last year, has affected this as it's quite demanding and full time. I don't think I'll be well enough to work for a longer period of time that I first thought, and when I do, I think it will need to be part time and a different type of role.
If I leave the role, would I be eligible to apply for benefits, or would my employer have to dismiss me?

I would think you would be entitled to PIP and you can go back to work with it because it's supposed to be for the things you can't live without. For example taxies, special food/drinks you might need and employing a PA. However with that being said it's for you so you can spend it how you like.
However the money you get from the job is yours you can do what you like with it. I would suggest contacting your local job centre, doctors surgery or Citzens advice to find out your best options.1 -
Thank you! I'm in the middle of applying for PIP. I think I will also speak to Citizen's Advice!

Hello kenzie_444
You will be able to apply for PIP.
I had a few quite serious operations while employed. All I eventually recovered from and was able to go back to work eventually. My employers had been brilliant with me regarding that.
But then on last operation it was too much, so I had no choice but to finish work.
I was told I could apply for PIP. I got a letter from my doctor, as well as hospital admissions papers from the surgeries which unfortunately followed after the last operation, to send to them along with the form I needed to fill in.
I was accepted by PIP and was given the what was then 'middle rate' for daily living.
All the best to you. x
