I was recently diagnosed with Amyloid but I’m not sure yet what type. Over a year ago while putting lotion on my neck I noticed lumps below my jaw on both sides of my throat and under my chin seemed swollen. Doctor didn’t seem concerned. Later I noticed food seemed to get stuck in my throat and my voice started to sound different. Swallowing seemed to be getting a little difficult and my tongue didn’t move like it used to. Now the doctor was concerned sending me to all different specialists, ordering all kinds of bloodwork, MRI, CT scans, Ultrasound, you name it, they did it for that whole year. Finally, ENT and Neurologist sent me to Stanford. Within 20 minutes he told me he strongly suspected Amyloidosis. Had biopsy on my throat and bloodwork. Results were what he suspected. I am scheduled for a bone marrow biopsy, more bloodwork and another MRI. I tried to make this narrative as condensed as possible but needless to say this is all pretty scary as I don’t know what is going to happen. I don’t know much about this disease except the fact that 10 years ago my brother in law had it and by the time he was diagnosed it was too late for treatment and he passed away from it.

Hi @Surething49 - & welcome to the forum. You have been through a lot, & scary tho it can be, you have a diagnosis, & once your Drs find out what type you have they will see if there's treatment to help, or to alleviate your symptoms.

There's some good info in the following website if you'd like to take a look: https://amyloidosisuk.org
