Migration to UC

I've just had a UC migration calculation done via the citizens advice and it turns out I'm going to be hundreds of pounds worse off per month. What a great news that is, thank you the DWP enjoy spending your expenses allowances while others lose out.

    Hello @Steve66. If you are migrated to UC you should receive transitional protection and therefore not be worse off. Have Citizens Advice explained how or why you'll be worse off?

    Yes they did after a short transition period I'll be worse off, it's because I get SDP and that's going to phased out

    Transitional Protection for SDP does erode, but that takes a differing amount of time for everyone.

    It depends on what happens with the UC claim afterwards.

    If your rent went up loads or you were awarded a new element, it would end more quickly than someone who has no changes other than the annual uprating.

    If it's any consolation I was awarded PIP last year and under the legacy system I would have been entitled to SDP. But because no premiums are payable with UC, I got nothing.

    It's a bloody nightmare does anyone actually understand the system, they make it so confusing. I know it's all part of their and Tories plan to do away with benefits altogether eventually. The workhouses are next it seems to heading that way, the poor and vulnerable pay the price every time.
