Hi, I am self employed and on a rolling 2 week, I earn £20 under the weekly earnings limit on 1 week and £20 over the next, so every 2 week I am in the income limt. Does anyone know if the earnings are based on a yearly income or are strictly on a weekly basis? Thanks

Below taken from the gov.uk site, if your average is £196/week or less then it seems that they might still grant the allowance but I don’t know why it’s just might!

If your earnings are sometimes more than £196 a week you might still be eligible for Carer’s Allowance. Your average earnings may be calculated to work out if you’re eligible.

I might have to phone them to clarify as it seems a bit of a grey area. Thank you for your comment.

    Hi,

As you are self employed, your earnings would usually be calculated over a previous year, and then divided by 52 to find the weekly average.

If you haven't been self-employed for a whole year then they can be averaged over a smaller period of time. There is no set period of time for this. It is down to their discretion.
