Hello I have recently started claiming ESA and the first payment I got was on the 4th of September and it was a backdated payment but I havnt not been paid since then, I cannot phone up on my phone as it will charge me. Since I'm not getting any other income I have nothing else to rely on. Would you be able to tell me how regularly l be getting my payments?

Usually every 2 weeks. if it's universal credit, it's monthly.

The government website says every two weeks. Did you not get a letter detailing your first payment date & when subsequent payments would be made? https://www.gov.uk/how-to-have-your-benefits-paid

ESA do normally back date new claim and then start paying you every two weeks.
They do send a letter out to explaining all

I found (it was 2012; so maybe things have changed) it did take a few weeks for them to sort things out and for the payments to start.

I got 1 off payment then didn't receive anything for 3 weeks and today after I posted that comment, I received the letter and looks like I'm not getting any more payments. Don't understand why because now I'm not getting any income.

    Hi @KayJordan,

What does the letter say? Does it explain why the payments are stopping?

Once we know this we can advise you on the next steps.

    Best wishes
