Online ID Documents

in Universal Credit (UC)

Hello,

I have read on this forum that you need two ID documents to verify identity online. I have a Passport but don't drive or have any other of the recommended ID. Can I still verify online with just my Passport or would I need a face to face interview? Thank You in advance.

    Also, if I don't use online verification and just submit my application, will I get messaged about a Job Center appointment or will I get biographical phone appointment. Plus is UC contact center number same as UC enquires line? Thank You

    Hi,

    No, you can't verify online with just a passport. If you've had any credit then you can use a credit reference alongside a passport.

    Otherwise you will be automatically sent an appointment through the journal to verify ID at the Job Centre. If that isn't possible for you, you can then request a biographical phonecall instead.

    Those two UC numbers go to the same place, it's a central hub covering all areas, instead of each local area having it's own phone contact.

    Thanks for your reply. I don't have phone contract or use credit. Do I need to phone UC helpline for an appointment or will they just phone me just to clarify. Thanks
