Updates!

Hi everyone,

I hope this is the right forum to post this.

I was on here not too long ago but asked to have my account deleted due to a few things going on at the time. I’ve decided to come back and to give an update on my PIP review (it's in the PIP forum), as well as a few other things I’d posted about before.

One of those updates is about our Cockapoo puppy, Oli—he’s now almost 8 months old! Still very much a handful, especially when it comes to Bronn, our cat. He’s not aggressive, just a bit of a nuisance—he gets in Bronn’s face trying to play and will occasionally try to chase him. Bronn isn’t too impressed and tends to stay cautious around him.

Training is still very much a work in progress—he can be a bit stubborn and, frankly, a bit ignorant at times! But overall, he’s doing fine.

Here’s an up-to-date photo of the little menace, haha.

Secondly, some might remember I posted about my mental health struggles and the ongoing issues with my old medical centre—not dealing with a complaint or concerns about my medical records for over three years. After they ignored both the ombudsman and Pohwer again, I contacted the management company that oversees the medical centre. That finally got the ball rolling.

They began addressing the issues—even though the previous practice manager had claimed they’d already been sorted by someone else who had stepped in temporarily (turns out, they hadn’t). By that point, I was fed up with the delays and lack of communication, so I registered with a new medical centre.

Interestingly, both centres fall under the same management company, so the original one still followed through with resolving my concerns, and that’s all finally been dealt with.

The new medical centre got us registered within two days, which was a nice change of pace. There was a hiccup with one of my medications, but they sorted it quickly. I’d also sent in a letter requesting reasonable adjustments—it only took them about three weeks to action it, and they added my son as my proxy with no issues. He’s also had a good experience with them so far, so all in all, we’re glad we made the switch.

As for the PIP review—that ended up being a paper-based assessment. Fingers crossed it went well. I’m hoping they haven’t reduced my award again, and ideally they’ve left the review length alone or extended it. Just waiting for the decision letter now.

That's me all up to date :)

Hi @Catherine21 nice to see you're still on here :)

I'm assuming it was a good outcome then, I'm just trying to not get too hopeful due to my last review (that was face to face though).

Oli looks cute.. I think we should have called him Dennis the menace lol.

I was awarded PIP for another 6 years at the same rate thankfully, they even put my points up by three lol but didn't acknowledge everything which is fine, I'll just keep reiterating my struggles when I have reviews.

    Hi @Nashota

Thank you for the update, that is an absolutely gorgeous photo of Oli! He looks adorable and so fluffy but so mischievous😄 I love cockerpoos😀

I am glad to hear you have been awarded PIP, hopefully this takes a big weight off your shoulders and helps you feel a bit better!

    Thanks @Mary_Scope and @Bluebell21

Having a technical glitch with Oli, he's gone off his kibble.. I'd rather him not be on full wet meat, so I'm trying to figure something out for him.

Trust me to read after getting a Cockapoo that they can be fussy with their food lol.

I relate to having a pooch with fussy eating @Nashota 😂 I have a bichon and he gets very bored of his food so we have to alternate his food between 2 brands every 3/4 days or he just refuses to eat!!

Aww Oli is so gorgeous @Nashota! I'm really pleased that things are looking more positive at your new medical centre, I hope they're able to support you better.

Great to hear your PIP review was okay too, that must be a relief! Thanks for updating us all ☺️

@Mary_Scope what type of food do you give him if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks @Rosie_Scope I do feel that they are more supportive, for example, I was supposed to have a blood pressure and blood test last September but the previous GP was expecting me to go in for it even though I was down as housebound, we did bring it up with the practice manager in the October who took until Feb/March this year to address it, by which time I'd already decided I was fed up and wanted to move, my son went into our current medical centre, explained everything to the receptionist, they've allowed me to continue where I left off and have put me on a list for a home appointment for the tests.

There are other things like responding to my son's letter within a few days and they appear to be keeping a proper eye on his health (he has hypothyroidism).

HI @Nashota, mine alternates between Lily's and Hills Prescription for Kidney Disease. They're both wet food, we tried butternut box for a year or so and that went okay but he would eat it warmed up🤣

Lol, he seems to be doing out with his kibble being mixed in with Forthglade at the moment. I'm aiming to have him on at least a tray of Forthglade per day and the rest kibble. I just need to decide what kibble, he's on Akela at the moment.

The cat's being fussy as well, so I'm now trying to look up some other food for him.. ugh.. it's causing me a lot of anxiety if I'm honest.

Aw bless them, it sounds like you're doing your absolute best with them though, hopefully they'll have something food. I understand what you mean though, it is very stressful when your pets don't eat.

My auntie has a king charles spaniel and she went through an incredibly fussy too, to the point she refused anything out of the bowl and would only eat fresh chicken breast out of my aunties hand!!!😀 How spoilt!!🤣

    Hello, I hope everyone's well.

I have another update. I'll try and explain the best that I can, I'll probably end up waffling lol.

Since 1995 I've been having chronic daily headaches (CDH), I have tried various things and had tests, they started to become worse over the last 5+ year maybe related to perimenopause/menopause and I believe that I'm now having migraines as well.

Last year I again reached out for help after not bothering for years due feeling like I was being fobbed off all of the time and the treatment I had tried not helping, the GP that my son spoke to for me expected me to attend the MC to have a blood test and blood pressure check despite her being told that I'm housebound, the appointment was cancelled and my son tried to address it with the practice manager which took her 4 months, by which time I had decided I couldn't deal with the constant mistakes, them ignoring my emails and taking 3 years to deal with a complaint and my medical records, as I explained at the top I switched to a different MC.

My son popped into the MC and spoke to a lovely receptionist who said he would put me on a list with the nurse for a blood test and blood pressure check, the nurse called on Monday, she said that because she couldn't find the other GPs request that I'd need to speak to a GP first, the appointment was booked for Wednesday, my son spoke to the GP for me and I was passing info to my son for the GP, he seemed to take it seriously and has suggested that I have a blood test and blood pressure checked, he did mention a scan which only one other GP mentioned which was the one last year. Problem is, because I very rarely leave my home, I'd find it difficult to go and have a scan now, if it had been suggested years ago by the various GPs that I'd tried to speak to about it I may have gotten help sooner. He also asked if I'd spoken to neurology before, the answer is no, no one ever suggested referring me to neurology prior to this GP.

So we're now just waiting on the nurse to get back to us with an appointment for her to come and do my bloods etc.

I'm sharing because in previous posts I was moaning a lot about the medical centre that I was previously with, this current medical centre although it appears to have poor reviews has been a lot more attentive towards myself and my son in the short periods of time we've been registered there (3 months) than the last one was who were with for 10 years. They actually listen, address things like requests, medication issues and such faster, there is a bit of wait for appointments although this recent one was pretty fast. I'm just relieved that I decided to switch and my son seems to be happy with the staff there as well. The previous medical centre didn't monitor his conditions very well at all and messed his meds up quite often.

Has anyone else ever had CT scans and such and what do they entail? How long do they take, etc?

Hi @Nashota I am glad your new GP is taking your conditions seriously.

I have had a CT scan and it is nothing to worry about. The following link explains what is involved.

    Please take care of yourself.
