hello so I have had a letter on my journal saying I am found to have lcwra and that any money owed will be sent in a separate letter.

Firstly does anyone know how long the process of them calculating my back pay takes ?

Secondly my assessment period is 21st-22nd get paid on the 28th

I handed in my first fit note 5th November backdated to July (been told that this doesn’t matter Uc will use November as start of assessment period)

When should I be actively receiving backpay/payments

All so confusing and I thank you for any help understanding

many thanks

Even though you've received a decision letter, UC still need time to process the decision fully.

Backpay is calculated separately and takes a few weeks at least.

You'll know when this has been done as a letter will be added to your Journal, stating the amount owed. Payment will be sent within a few working days.

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

Assuming after November your Fit Notes were provided with no breaks, none that were backdated etc, my estimate of your timeline is:

October/November: Partial Assessment Period, not included for waiting period

    November/December: AP 1

    December/January: AP 2

    January/February: AP 3

    February/March: Eligible for LCWRA element

March 28: First LCWRA element paid.

I estimate up until today you are owed two months LCWRA. If it's not on your next statement then it will be three months.

If you receive any Transitional Protection on your claim it will be reduced by the LCWRA amount (£416.19 for February/March & March/April, £423.27 for April/May onwards).

If you have Transitional Protection it will be listed on your payment statements. Not everybody gets it.
