If the government uses secondary legislation (regulations) to change PIP rules without a full Act, those can sometimes be challenged more easily — for example, in court if they're considered ultra vires (beyond legal power).

How many mps need to vote against cuts ? For it not to go ahead

That’s what I thought but I saw Ben claimant who has a YouTube channel with Ellen Clifford videos on it said he spoke to Tory minister and they’re voting against. Maybe they’ve realised it’s a vote winner to go against the cuts . They won’t win the vote on anything else as Tory’s now 3rd

Hi everyone
I haven't been here much lately but just wanted to let you know I have sent my pip reassessment form in the post today.
My award doesn't expire until Sept' 2026 and they gave me less than 3 weeks to complete it and get in sent to them.
I don't trust them so I posted it by next day special delivery and it cost me over £13 quid.
Its done now and I'm off for a four night stay cation here in Cornwall later today.
The weather forecast is looking good this week so hopefully I will have a good time.
Take care all.

I think the Conservatives will vote against Starmer’s welfare plans to play politics. They’ve already criticised the changes as rushed and only a short-term fix, to save money not proper reform. This gives them a chance to attack Labour, highlight party splits, and make Starmer look weak. Labour calls itself the party of change, but the Tories will use this to say they are failing.
The Tories will use this to try to look good by saying, 'Look how Labour is treating the disabled,' even though their own plans would have been harsher. Basically, we’ll become pawns in their game. Still, it might buy time for better, less harsh proposals to come forward.
If I were a betting woman, I’d put my money on the Tories using us to score points. But I could be wrong.

I'm sorry. 🙏 I didn't mean to worry you!
It's being said that because the government are pushing through the proposals with primary legislation, without consultation on the parts of it that are most damaging to us, that the DPOs are saying that they are actually better off challenging them through the courts after the legislation has gone through.
That may sound alarming but is not as bad as it sounds.
Previous governments have not tried to put benefit cuts through in this way before so the DPOs are having to deal with it differently.
After the law is made, they will then have plenty of time until it's implemented next year to challenge the government about how it goes against equality and human rights laws.
Depriving a protected group, like the disabled of the costs of their disability needs is unlawful. So is depriving anyone of the basics of living like, food, clothing, heating and shelter as the government are going to drive high numbers of us into destitution and homelessness. 😞
There is not consulting with us on the parts of the legislation that will affect us the most and not doing it properly with other proposals. Plus, them not being prepared to wait until the essential OBR impact assessment which is not due to October. All that is potentially unlawful. 👍
Remember too that there is a bigger Local Election with more MPs and councillors standing, this time next year before most of the legislation comes into force.
We have so many people on our side. Our family, friends, carers, quite a few Labour MPs and the general public. I've just read that their support for people in poverty as many of us are has gone up from 54% to 72% in just the last 6 months! 🤗
Lastly, something that is very important. That is that the deprived areas in this country are under mostly Labour MPs. As so many could be voted out by us and our supporters they are genuinely worried about being in a job this time next year, never mind the General Election!
There is such a big outcry from Labour Mps, even one or two ministers, that it's threatening the unity of the party.
Starmer, Reeves and Kendall have really painted themselves into a corner. They are damned if they make this Green Paper into law and damned if they don't. They are hamstrung by the WFA too.
There is plenty to be hopeful about. There really is. 😊

Thankyou Ballatango for your post regarding the DWP Buried reports, everyone must read this. It's a very important post that details just how both the DWP and the govenment work.
It is very damaging that shows how govenments work - just release information when people are not looking, someone once said 'never miss a good opportunity to release bad news'
