I've just been awarded PIP, and received my award letter 23rd May 2025, from that date I'm entitled to pip, but that date was the date of the decision,I had a payment go into my bank account from 23- 04-2024 to the end of the month, there was no mention of backdated payments, I originally rang pip to claim in January this year, and they received my claim in February, and they text me to say that they had received my claim.
Should I have been payed backdated, and when from, should it be when I first rang to claim, or when they received my claim, also this is the first time I've claimed, so a new claim, I was working before and claiming universal credit, hope you can help with this before I ring them about it, so I know my rights.

Sorry that should of been April 23rd 2025, not May 2025.
Sorry.

Hi T , you will receive payments from the date you applied and if I’m correct they will backdate up to 12 weeks but everything is about to change with this new government, hope this helps 👍Jules

You usually get the backdated money first. There have been instances lately where no backdated money was given. Once you got the backdated money from your original phone call starting your claim. Can't help anymore.
