PIP Tribunal

I work full time but struggle even with work adaptation.

I applied in March 2021, 2hours 45 min assessment (paramedic) scored a 2 for toilet aid. May 2022 MR no change so I gave up.

Dec 2023 my mobility and mental health are challenging me. My two adult children fill in the forms just adding what had got worse. 70 min assessment (nurse) D/L enhanced and 10 mobility.

Feb 2024 MR declined.

A friend advises me to see the CAB. They fill in the form for appealing and then a volunteer representative (solicitor) picks up my case. He does all the paperwork and listens to my reasons for appealing. Paper get filed before the hearing.

Fast forward to yesterday (Appeal Day) so my daughter joins me and my solicitor (hero) who travelled from 200 miles away to support me. Paper checking before we go in. As I turn to walk in my knee locks and I’m in pain. I sit down everyone says who they are the the DWP speak first, ‘we concede and we will give you 12e’ then everyone is shocked. We are asked to step out and the judge confirms with my solicitor that he’s happy and we leave.

This was one of the worse experiences I have had dealing with government.

I’m so glad it’s over. Please don’t give up! It’s a fight worth fighting even though they make you question yourself, don’t allow them to put negative thoughts into your head or self doubt.

Asking and applying for financial support to support your needs shouldn’t be this challenging.

Hello @Pick3500. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, I know it can't have been easy. I'm really pleased your tribunal was successful, but it's bitter-sweet knowing you had to go through that to get the award you were entitled to.

You're absolutely right: no one should be made to feel this way for asking for support. Wishing you some peace and rest now.
