if you don't spend it on healthcare what's the ceiling. Is it 6k or 16k.

how do they know if it goes over 6k or is it 16k. when do you have to pay some towards the rent?

My friend who's a pensioner says for pensioners it's 16k. not that old yet! :)

    It is 6k currently. Anything over that you would need to declare it and as stated before every now and again they might ask you to provide bank statements. It's using I find going back just four months that they ask you for . Hope this helps

    Hi,

    For income related ESA the maximum limit is £16,000.

    If you have between £6000 & £16,000 then there is a deduction of £1 per week for every £250 over £6000. You must declare this to ESA yourself, they will not know automatically.

    If you receive Housing Benefit, this is managed by your local council and they choose their own rules. I have seen £6k, £10k and £16k limits in different areas.

    For Pension Credit the lower limit is £10,000. With a deduction of £1 per £500 for anything above that. (I assume this is what your friend meant)
