Where to Go?
I'm thinking about where togo on holiday. Like many people here there are certain places that as much as I want to go it would be a struggle. I was wondering if someone could suggest somewhere abroad. I want to go to the Caribbean or maybe Mexico. Can you let me know or anyone else that is interested what places are like for people with mobility problems.
As I have said I have always wanted to go to the Caribbean, especially Bermuda, Barbados or maybe Cuba / Mexico. Ir anywhere else you might suggest?
Thanks.........

Is there nowhere you'd like to visit in the British Isles before you try long-distance??

I've no experience in going further than Europe. It also depends on your mobility.. Not all wheelchairs will fit in all aircraft!
We're gonna be using Byway travel to go to Holland this year.

I've been to Rhodes, Crete, some of the Canary & Balaric Islands.
Whereever you go, plan plan plan like a military exercise. Do as much research as possible.
Maybe Eueans Guide. I did a quick search on 'Accessible Tourism in' for Mexico & the Caribbean , which gave many links with answers to your question.
The other option is cruises, but these cost…0 -
WhatThe..….
I have been to many places in the UK. As a child it helped that my parents had a motor caravan and I had relatives that lived in Bournemouth. I have loved them all.….... Especially:
1 Bournemouth
2 The New Forest
3 North / South Devon
4 Cornwall
5 Wales
6 Scotland
7 Lake District
8 York
etc I have loved them all and been back many times.

I have been abroad on.many occasions and again have loved everywhere I habern, including:
1 Canada 🇨🇦
2 USA 🇺🇸
3 New Zealand 🇳🇿
4 Greece 🇬🇷
5 Turkey 🇹🇷
6 Tunisia 🇹🇳
7 France 🇫🇷
8 Italy 🇮🇹
9 Spain 🇪🇸 including mainland, Canary Islands, Baleriac Islands
10 Mediterranean Cruise (including Portugal 🇵🇹; Spain 🇪🇸; France 🇫🇷; Italy 🇮🇹)
11 Norwegian 🇳🇴 Fijord Cruise
12 Cyprus 🇨🇾
I wasn't disabled until I had an accident answering an urgent assistance call whilst in the police which is why I have managed to see so much. However of late the pain, discomfort and movement problems have been getting worse and my ability to walk or get around is becoming harder and harder and the pain is getting worse and worse. I am using a chair more and more but quite often hire one where I can when I get there... I was just asking for suggestions.
As you suggest I'll Google my questions and see what comes up.
Thanks to both of you for replying.

How lucky to have travelled so much and I'm sorry to hear of your injury in the line of duty.
Central and South America are magical places and I hope you go 🌎️

Hi @AndyGT Did you manage to decide on a holiday? I think we could all do with a holiday. Take care.

I have been to Ovacic & Olu Deniz in Turkey, where in 2014 I did a Tandem Paraglide off a 6,500ft mountain!
I’ve also been to a beautiful place called Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
I am flying out to Madeira next year, it’s going to be my first time abroad alone, TUI have been amazing with organise all the assisted travel needs and requirements I require at both airports and a taxi each way. They have also loaded with the hotel in what I will need for the week I’m staying there.
I’m flying on the 26-06-26 which all line up together. The ironic thing is I’ll be flying out aged 42 and returning aged 43. I mentioned this to TUI and there going to tell the hotel about my birthday 😬

Have you decided not to take out travel insurance then? I thought that was the stumbling block for you?
