Some lingering problems on the forum

I'm having numerous problems in applying the @ tag which is frustrating (sometimes more than a dozen attempts with no success). Also when needing to edit a post it takes several attempts before it then works. Please can you help?

I take ages to post anything, I get constant double words, and the @thing never works. I've only experienced these problems on here.

@chiarieds Some times the @ works, other times not! I trust you are ok? You are a long time contributor to the forum, so if you are having problems we are all having problems!

Hi @chiarieds, sorry to hear you're having these issues with the community. The tagging issue has been happening for some time and I can appreciate how frustrating it is trying multiple times to get it to work.

With the editing problem, is it that when you click 'Save comment' nothing happens?

We've had some members say that when they click to confirm the edit it takes a few seconds but then eventually does go through, so I wondered whether this is the same issue or something new.

Please could you remind me what kind of device you use to access the community? For example, mobile phone, laptop or tablet.

I'll pass this on to the team to see if there's anything that could be done to push for a fix. Apologies again for the issues, I know it can really affect your experience of the community when these bugs keep cropping up.

Hi @Rosie_Scope - just over 3 dozen attempts before successfully tagging you here! I was aware this has been a bit of a problem for a while, but I'm definitely finding it a lot worse these past few days!

With the editing, as you say nothing happens & I'm finding that even if I wait a little, then it takes several attempts, waiting in between before it eventually responds & saves the edit. Must be tempermental as it worked first time trying it now. To add insult to injury the 'enter' button has just stopped working now so I can't start a new paragraph. I've just checked & it works fine in a word processor! I use a desktop computer. Thank you for any help. Thank you Steve, I'm keeping well.

Also still experiencing the delays in edited posts going through after hitting save comment.

Thanks everyone I'll pass all that on.

We'll get in touch with our platform provider to see if there's anything more we can do.

I use the forum on a mobile or tablet.

If the edit post goes onto a new tab then the edit goes through straight away.

If edit post stays on the same screen in thread it takes ages to go through.

I'm getting the edit delay on a laptop as well. I find if I leave it and go to another tab for a minute or two, it has usually saved the edit by the time I come back.

Annoying, but nowhere near as intrusive as the problems we had with notifications etc earlier this year.

Vanilla Forums is dying, the forum platform needs to be changed urgently.

Apparently the forum server is overloaded with user requests. The forum.scope administration is completely powerless here. There is a very small chance that your computer (or smartphone) is outdated or overloaded with software and viruses.
