PIP lump sum

Hi there
I would like to know when receiving a lump sum from PIP, when do we need to report it to DWP? Does it have to be a certain large amount or any lump sum received from PIP?
Many thanks

Hi @Tinabella - & welcome to the forum. If you mean you've received some back pay for PIP, then it only matters if you're claiming another benefit, & then only if you still have some of it left after a year, as such a 'lump sum' is disregarded for that length of time. Also it would take that, plus any other savings you still had after a year, to be over £6,000 before it would need to be reported.
If you're just claiming PIP, then it doesn't matter how much savings you have, as it's not a means tested benefit.

Hi Chiarieds
Thank you kindly for coming back to me… I am currently receiving UC too plus Work incapability related benefits too, and received the lump sum of PIP, so from what you said, do I still need to report it to DWP?

The PIP lump sum you have received is disregarded for one year so you don't have to report it to UC,if you have savings over 6k after 12 months from receiving the lump sum then you will need to report it.
