Hi - after getting 100% council tax support last year, it appears that I am now expected to pay £74 per month. I receive higher rate PIP on both sections and am in the ESA support group. I have 1 non-dependant daughter living with me.
I have tried to say that I cannot afford £74 per month and have now received a letter saying that as I am 2 payments behind, if I don't pay £148.74 within 7 days I will be liable for the full £973.34.
Any ideas considering council tax is nit even legal!!
Thank you!

Hi,
Non-dependents are expected to pay (or at least contribute) to the council tax. Is there a reason that your daughter can't do that while living there?
Not sure what you mean by council tax not being legal. We all pay it to cover the cost of bin collections and maintenance of public spaces.

Council Tax Reduction is decided on at a local level. Each local authority has different rules. Many have seen changes this financial year in liability.
