Child disability element from UC/ backdating

Hello all and hope you all are well.

My child has been awarded PIP and her payment started in April in which I have informed UC.

They keep missed the element payment so I had to inform them again and they have only just added the element onto the UC payment from June.

They haven't backdated the missed months which I will request then to do.

My question is, do they backdated from the month that my child was awarded (April) or do they backdated it all the way to December which PIP award was also backdated to December when she received the form?

    Did you use her application date when reporting the change?

    If so that's when they should backdate to.

    Backpayment is calculated separately and often takes several weeks at least.

    They may ask why you reported the change "late".

    You'll know when this has been done as a letter will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed due to underpayment. The money will then be paid within a few working days.

    Hi and thank you for your reply.

    I informed UC straight away when she received the PIP award letter which was dated in April.

    They missed the element payment and I informed them again and I was told to redo the chance of circumstances/report a change which I did.

    They just added the element payment onto this month's UC payment without backdating which I thought would be from April.

    But I was told that they should be backdating all the way to December in line with PIP backdates but I'm not sure if this is correct hence why I need help before requesting UC for a review.

    I also wrote to UC that it was backdated to December and her first payment was April if that helps.

    Any backpayment is dealt with separately to putting the element onto your monthly award. Backpayment takes longer to sort out as well.

    You've done a Journal note which is good, if you haven't used the December date via Report a Change then you should do that as well.
