I'm enjoying my volunteering at my local hospital

Hiya everyone,
I am enjoying my volunteering at my local hospital.
I've only been doing it since the end of May and I have already directed quite a lot of patients and visitors to the department where they need to go.
I currently volunteer on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2pm-4pm on the Welcome Desk in the main entrance of the hospital.
Sometimes I find that my get up and go has got up and gone without me lol.
It can be a bit difficult to remember some directions, but thankfully one of the volunteer coordinators has made a sort of directory of the areas and departments of the hospital and the directions to get there.
There's usually at least 2 people on the welcome desk and sometimes there's more.
The most volunteers I've seen at the desk is 3 including me, which was helpful one time as one of the lady volunteers asked me if I wanted to go with her whilst she was pushing an elderly gentleman to a new part of the hospital that I didn't know existed.
We were also on the look out for wheelchairs that had gone missing from the wheelchair area in the main entrance as most of not all of the wheelchairs have "MAIN ENTRANCE" written on them somewhere in permanent marker.
I remember last Wednesday the lady who was on the help desk with me went to search the hospital for wheelchairs and she'd managed to find two of them, but she had put one behind the welcome desk as it was broken as it was making a loud noise whether you were pushing or pulling it and the arm rests were missing too. Once she'd parked the wheelchair up, she rang the repair team at the hospital to let them know about the broken wheelchair.
Someone must've come for the broken wheelchair either after me and one of the volunteer coordinators had left or they'd come and collected it on Thursday as it wasn't there on the Friday.

Ty so much @Bluebell21. I have met lots of different people and visitors who ask for a wheelchair.
I have even filled in the details from people who have a blue badge onto a sheet which one of the other volunteers or one of the volunteer coordinators will take to the volunteer hub so that it can be put on the computer and sent to the company that owns the hospital carpark.

And here is your post, BrianMcFaddenfan!
The hours and days sound just right for you with a recovery day in between. Volunteering is rewarding and satisfying when it's a role we are genuinely interested in. It's also an opportunity to meet new people and perhaps make new friends. It's an ideal experience for confidence-building and seeking paid work in the future.
Well done to you for applying for this role and being accepted at your local hospital!
